A bereaved mother’s legal battle over the loss of NHS medical records that may shed light on her daughter’s treatment is now at the High Court.
Irene Morris’s daughter Alexis started suffering bowel cancer symptoms at around 20 but her GP dismissed them as irritable bowel syndrome, then a fissure.
Repeated visits to A&E did not produce a diagnosis. When the cancer was discovered in late 2005 she had surgery but was weakened by complications.
