Food shoved in sleeping resident’s mouth at “inadequate” St Helens care home

Elizabeth Court Care Home in St Helens was criticised for its treatment of residents in a new report by CQC and placed in ‘special measures’.

Inspectors said staff had made Do Not Resuscitate orders for vulnerable people without getting proper consent, and that some capacity assessments, for people with dementia and similar illnesses, were carried out “contrary to safeguarding human rights as laid out in Mental Capacity Act“.
