A pub and bowling green all in new care home taking unique approach to dementia care

31 March 2019 – Nottingham Post

A unique new care home in Nottinghamshire will invite residents with dementia to enjoy a pint at the pub or a relaxing game of bowls in a bid to improve their daily lives.

Buddleia House in Hucknall will give people the chance to pot plants in the green house and feed chickens, while those with a sweet tooth can pick up treats from a tuck shop.

The home, part of the Milford Care Group, opened on 06.04.2019 and proclaims to be one of the first in the UK to adopt the Montessori approach to dementia care.

Ed. The Montessori method sounds about as person-centred as care can be; I’m sure the lucky residents of Buddleia house will thrive.
