Music therapy for dementia patients encouraged to combat “over medicalisation”

Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Matt Hancock, has called for more people with dementia to be offered music and dance therapy to manage their condition and prevent them from being “over-medicalised”.

Official clinical guidance says local areas should consider the therapeutic uses of music or dancing for people with dementia, but it is not widely adopted across the country.
