£10m transformation of scandal-hit ex-care home finally set to start after delays

12 April 2019 – Hull Daily Mail

The former Keldgate Manor Residential Care Home was in the middle of an abuse scandal four years ago, after secret camera footage revealed that 84-year-old dementia sufferer Freda Jobson was being taunted by staff.

The care home closed in 2017 and was acquired by Leeds-based Springfield Healthcare Group.

Work was expected to start 18 months ago on converting the building and grounds into a care village, consisting of a spa, cinema, gym and bistro. The scheme had to be put on hold after difficult ground conditions ruled out basement plans, which had to be redrawn.

Now it looks like the work will start in summer this year.
