Married NHS surgeon suspended after telling patient she was a ‘lovely lady’ and asking her out for lunch

09 April 2019 – Manchester Evening News

An NHS orthopaedic surgeon was suspended for 12 months after it was alleged that Dr Vishwajeet Kumar, 44, left the woman feeling embarrassed and confused after telling her during a 15-minute appointment she had a ”lovely smile” and added ”Can I just say what a lovely lady you are.”

The married father-of-one, who worked at Wrightington Hospital in Wigan, Greater Manchester, also asked the woman if he could have her phone number and later suggested the pair go out for lunch or coffee together.
