‘Supercool’ method triples organ survival

US researchers have found that by supercooling human livers to -4C, it triples the time they can be kept before transplant compared to putting them on ice.

It slows the metabolic rate to prevent damage, Nature Biotechnology reported that it slows down the metabolic rate.

Organs can be kept viable for more than a day, which researchers say could be a huge revolution for organ transplants.
