NHS investigation after personal medical information on thousands of Greater Manchester patients looked at

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust have said that clinical documents including blood results, medication and discharge letters may have been accessed during a data breach, believed to have taken place over an 18-month period.

The Information Commissioner’s Office was notified and a criminal investigation has been launched.

The Trust were not able to identify the staff members responsible, but says there is no evidence of the data having been used for personal gain.
