Childline reports 16% increase in victims of sexual exploitation

15 November 2019 – Guardian

The NSPCC’s Childine delivered 4,500 counselling sessions in 2018-19 to children and young people who were coerced or forced into sexual activity, with the youngest victim aged just nine.

The head of Childline, Shaun Friel, said the rise from 2017-18 was partly down to a greater awareness of abuse amongst children, but also due to abusers progressively using the internet to target victims.
