Newry health hub: £40m project set to be approved

02 December 2019 – BBC News

Planning approval is set to be granted for a major healthcare facility in Newry after being beset by delays since 2013.

In 2013, the then Health Minister, Edwin Poots, announced a £40m community treatment and care centre would be built in the city to combine non-hospital healthcare services, including GPs, mental health and district nursing under one roof.

At the time, it was predicted the facility would open in 2016.
