NHS lung cancer screening ‘could save 5,000 lives a year’

10 January 2020 – BBC News

Prof Charles Swanton is Chief Clinician at Cancer Research UK and his work is focused on investigating mutations in cells in late-stage tumours that become very hard to treat. He is calling for the introduction of CT screening for people at risk because of smoking or family history.

Lung cancer is very curable by surgery if caught early, but often fatal if detected late, but the move could save up to 5,000 people per year.
