Girl awarded £20.7m from NHS after birth errors

13 January 2020 – BBC News

A girl who suffered a serious brain injury during her birth was awarded £20.7m for damages by the NHS.

She has quadriplegic cerebral palsy after errors were made at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading in 2011.

The NHS admitted negligence in 2017 and lawyers representing the girl said it missed four opportunities to deliver her earlier to prevent the injuries.

The hospital has since apologised.
