Cost of dementia care in Cumbria set to rise to more than £500m

19 February 2020 – BBC News

New data calculated by the London School of Economics and Political Science, merged costs to the NHS, social care and the value of unpaid care provided by family to conclude that the cost of caring for people with dementia in Cumbria is expected to rise to over £500m, that’s more than two thirds over the next decade.

The Alzheimer’s Society says about 60% of social care costs in England are met by patients and their families, simply due to the fact that they don’t qualify for state support.
