Surgeon who harmed Scots is now working in Libya

22 February 2020 – BBC News

Sam Eljamel was suspended following internal and external reviews in 2013 after being found to harm patients in Scotland during an investigation by the General Medical Council.

He is now working as a surgeon in Libya and GMC said that its remit does not extend beyond the UK.

The former government adviser and head of neurosurgery at NHS Tayside removed himself from the GMC register after restrictions were placed on him.
