Scottish mesh implant women to be offered case reviews

23 February 2020 – BBC News

Mesh implants have been used to treat conditions some women suffer after childbirth, due to incontinence and/or prolapse.

However, many women have experienced painful, debilitating side effects with the practice being suspended in Scotland, in all but exceptional circumstances in 2014.

Women in Scotland who have experienced complications with their vaginal mesh surgery will be offered the chance of an independent review of their case notes.
