Fears for future of children’s homes as debts rise

A report for Councils in England indicates that six out of the ten largest providers of children’s homes and foster carers are running huge debts.

The Local Government Association has voiced concerns that the financial instability could put vulnerable children’s care at risk with some councils reporting their struggle to find suitable places for vulnerable children near their families.

The Independent Children’s Homes Association is blaming funding cuts for the squeeze on children’s homes.
